Going The Distance
2011 will be the 30th year of the Belfast City Marathon and it will prove a memorable experience for eight first-timers who have all decided to radically alter their lifestyles and take on the challenge of a lifetime. For the average person the distance of 26.2 miles covered in the marathon is the toughest and most personal challenge they will ever face. This is especially true for our eight novice marathon runners who will all have their own reasons for going the distance.
Taking guidance and training from health and fitness experts, as well as leading nutritionists and psychologists our participants personal, social and health lifestyles will be examined and adapted over the course of six months in the lead-up to marathon day.
This refreshing take on the traditional health and lifestyle programme will follow our runners over a six month period as we observe the highs and lows associated with training for a first time marathon.
