An Paidrín, (The Rosary), broadcast in Feb 2010 on TG4 and BBC2NI is a poignant, one off documentary film produced and presented by Pól Penrose. It examines his relationship with religion and spirituality throughout his childhood and into his adult life. Now living a hectic modern lifestyle with little spiritual meaning, he decides to return to the practise of saying the rosary on a daily basis and abstain from alcohol for 30 days to demonstrate the benefits, of this practise in a modern context.
In this beautifully shot film, he returns to his home town of Gortahork, Co Donegal to talk to family and friends about their memories of the rosary and the importance of it in their lives. He also visits Community Cenacolo in Co. Mayo where the rosary is used as part of religious healing for drug addicts and alcoholics from all walks of life.
